Frosty Hollow Freeze @ Well Strung
It was a 8:30 am game time on a chilly and cold weathered day and the Freeze took a trip to Washington Crossing to take on the team Well Strung.
The wind took over the courts and made the tennis balls move in all different directions. The har-tru courts were blowing dirt in the wind and made for tough game play for the players. It was pretty much slow paced action on the courts due to the outdoor conditions.
The Freeze sent out their lineup into the artic blowing wind as their road swing continued:
Position 1 Singles: Carroll Gau
Position 2 Singles: Dmitry Belov
Position 1 Doubles Pair:
Ian Blackman / Anish Mhatre
Position 2 Doubles Pair:
Bob Hawley / Bill Burger
Position 3 Doubles Pair:
Mark Shaffer / Lance Shaffer
The fans were bundled up for this game as the players took to the playing courts.
The Freeze got off to a bang as Ian Blackman and Anish Mhatre scored 5 points. Bob Hawley and Bill Burger smacked in another 4 points which sent some of the home crowd indoors to warm up.
At this point, the Freeze were up 9-0 but the Well Strung team was looking for a momentum change. The home team bounced back. The score was now 9-8 with a Singles Court to go. Dmitry Belov came in as the closer and shut the door on his court. He added 4 points and cruised the Freeze to victory.
THE FREEZE WIN!
A TIGHT GAME!
13-8.
This Division is going to be close all season.
The Freeze now look forward to their much anticipated Home Opener next week as they take on their biggest rival and a bid for first place in the Division Standings.
The teams do not like each other and the rumors are swirling in the media and around the league that trash talk has begun and words are being said.
The Freeze of course are subjected to dislike because of the good team play they have on and off the court and obviously making the playoffs in the previous season.
Who is going to be the team to set the tone and take charge and who is going to take the back seat? It’s rivalry week and you want to make sure to be there for some possible fireworks.
The Freeze hit the practice courts for the week of preparation for Saturday’s big game.
Court side tickets are free at the door so bring your friends and family for the Freeze Home Opener!
