Frosty Hollow Freeze @ NERC:
After a tough defeat the night before, the Freeze had a fast turnaround and headed out on the road to take on NERC at Northeast for a 9:00 am start time. This game was a big bout for the Freeze and needed to come out with a “W” to keep the playoffs in sight. Instead of sports drinks, coffee was set up beforehand. The game was played indoors where the fans were set up in the upper deck of the NERC stadium.
The starting lineup for the Freeze was getting energized. Zach McGowan was in for Singles1. Shawn Gallagher was in for Singles2. Ashish Patel and Eric Ulzinow were in for Doubles1. Ian Blackman and Lance Shaffer were in for Doubles2. Bob Hawley and Mark Shaffer were in for Doubles3. The game was on; Frosty Hollow Freeze Vs. NERC; Game Time! The Fireworks went off outside of the stadium!
Doubles pair; Ashish Patel and Eric Ulzinow conquered their court in good style with bringing home 6 points for the Freeze. With the Freeze now in the lead, the crowd was making a racquet. Ian Blackman and Lance Shaffer worked as hard as they could to try to score for the team. Blackman hopped up on Steroids and Advil felt faint during the game and needed a timeout. He needed to fuel and had food brought down to the court from the upper deck. Bob Hawley and Mark Shaffer did the same and had a tight match on their court going to a third set tie breaker. With some of the Freeze players injured, the Freeze were out looking for points in a big way.
Always backing each other and sticking up for one another, the Freeze fit the bill. There was a tad bit of confrontation during the game between a NERC player and a Freeze player. Gallagher needed to be held back slightly. However, if push truly came to shove, I could imagine that all of the Freeze players would have jumped in and took on the NERC’s. The Freeze team has excellent camaraderie and if you mess with any member of the Freeze, you are going to get all of them.
The score is now 7-6 in NERC’s favor and the crowd is trying to pump up the players. Zach McGowan ran over his opponent by striking for 5 points. It’s now 11-7 and the Freeze are now in the lead. Shawn Gallagher took the reins and scored 4 points in two snug tie breaks. The Freeze crowd goes bonkers in the upper deck of the stadium behind the plexi glass. It almost got to a point where the plexi glass was going to crack from the noise or even more so; the passion and intensity. The Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze win! The score was 15-7 and the Freeze are setting themselves up nice with 2 games to go in the regular season.
After the game, some of the Freeze hit the streets and headed to Gearo’s Grille Tavern. With craft beer and highlights on the TV’s, the Freeze were doing a little celebrating. Frosty Hollow Freeze player, Ashish Patel, picked up the entire tab. He followed in Ian Blackman footsteps after Ian did that a season ago. This is another perfect example of the kind of players and people the Frosty Hollow Freeze have on their team.
The Freeze have 2 games to go in the regular season and it is safe to say that they are both playoff games and two must wins. They are both going to be home games so they expect big Freeze crowds so the players could feed off the energy to help boost them to a win and maybe a playoff seed. The tickets for Saturday’s game are free at the door but courtside seats are first come first serve. Everything is set. Two regular season games to go and the Freeze want those wins. This is going to be a fun team to watch in the playoffs so fans come out a cheer this team on!
Also; The Carlos Araujo Show aired on ESPN 8 (el Ocho) on Wednesday night:
Hello again aficionados of the Freeze, this is Carlos reporting on the match played against The NERC from the northeast, reporting from ESPN 8 (el Ocho).
In the eighth match of the season, the rematch with NERC took place in their home court at the Northeast. The Freeze thankfully returned to their winning ways, putting the Northeast in a deep freeze quickly. The Freeze won 3 out 5 courts, sweeping the series.
Breaking news! The NERCrophilliacs refused to agree to play a third set with any of the match, President Trump tweeted “What a bunch of Pussies, I wish I was there to grab them and tell them a thing or two. MTNEGA”.
Now, it is not clear what MTNEGA means, but my sources have leaked the meaning to me via the same professor that former FBI director Comey used. So if you still wondering what it means ask me.
Now to the matches:
1st Singles, “Sad” Zack McGowan, still reeling from his loss last night, rebounded with energy and put on a whipping on his opponent. Zack “Happy” McGowan really put on a show.
Word on the street is that as a reward for his performance, he was taken for a happy meal at Mickey D’s and was allowed to play in the restaurant’s gym afterwards.
2nd Singles, Shawn (Red M&M) Gallagher had a tough match in his hands, prevailing 7-6/7-6. This particular M&M seems to like long matches as Team Captain Super Mom Shaffer pointed out. He does not seem to have an urgency to win quickly and get back into his bag of M&Ms as Ian (Yellow M&M) Blackman seems to do.
Word on the street is that Team Captain Super Mom Shaffer is ok with this kind of play, stating “As long as he does not melt in the court, everything is ok.
Breaking News, Team Polar Bears, will debut as 1st Doubles for the Freeze.
And they did in spectacular fashion, according to my boy Julian Assange, the smash brothers were victorious in their match, pawning their way to an easy victory.
Word on the street, the Smash Brothers had a coke and a smile after their debut as 1st doubles.
2nd doubles was played by Team Chocolate Lobster. Again with Ian playing on a bad wheel took took a loss. However, both players played their best. Way to go guys.
Word on the street is that Ian went to the doctor to make sure there was nothing serious with him. Team Spokesperson Heather “Spicey” confirmed what the whole team was expecting after x-rays where taken on Ian. He is made of chocolate.
Finally, 3rd Doubles, newly formed team, as Super Mom Shaffer continues her strategic moves to keep the Freeze in contention. The combo of Bob Hawley and Mark Shaffer, christened as Team “Old Lobsters” by Number One fan Heather “Spicey” also did not fare well. Perhaps the team needed some Old Bay seasoning to better complement each other. However, it was a great effort by the two warriors.
In all, after a quick turnaround in the schedule, the Freeze rebounded and stays in contention for a playoff spot.
Team motto remains the same, “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these Freezers from the swift beating of our opponents"
Until next time, set bat channel, same bat time. Carlos signing off.
