Game Recap:
Frosty Hollow Freeze at BCRC Pirates (May 30th)
On a beautiful hot day in Bucks County, the Frosty Hollow Freeze continued their road swing at the BCRC Pirates. The buccaneers were out in full swing today. The weather was beach-like but there was still an exciting tennis match in action. The Har-Tru courts seemed like they were on fire from the heat and passion from the players running and sliding on the courts. The Frosty Hollow Freeze stole the treasure today and won by a score of 4-1. The Frosty Hollow Freeze are now 6-0 this season. Yo- ho-ho, Ahoy matey!
The lineup that was put together today worked great. The Singles Positions were filled by Hakan Uluturk and Ashish Patel. The Doubles Positions were filled by Dave Kniaz and Ken Patterson, Bill Burger and Joey Sunga, and Lance Shaffer and Mark Shaffer.
Alot of heat was on the Doubles court with Lance Shaffer and Mark Shaffer and their opponents. Things got especially heated when words were exchanged between the teams. The scuffle broke out when Lance Shaffer hit a between-the-legs shot and a Pirate player said that he was going to drill the ball at Lance if he tried that again. Mark Shaffer then said, "I don't think that's a good idea." After the scuffle, both teams got back to tennis and it was an entertaining match to watch with dominant action in front of the net. Lance Shaffer used the scuffle to get into that extra gear, which in turn put a quick finish to the match. With all the excitement on this court, Lance Shaffer and Mark Shaffer used that energy to win the court. When talking to the media, Lance Shaffer said that the heated exchange was unnecessary, but it is part of sports when competing. He also stated, "It was a fun physical match that was played with jam."
The other Doubles court featured Dave Kniaz and Ken Patterson. A long laborious 2 set match had the guys working hard but Dave Kniaz and Ken Patterson won the court. Ken Patterson enjoyably stated, "We played the human time-out." Dave Kniaz added, "I'm glad I didn't pass out."
On another Doubles court, Bill Burger and Joey Sunga won their court. Bill Burger said that he got fired up from the Doubles court with Lance Shaffer and Mark Shaffer. When talking to the media, Bill Burger stated, "Joey carried me." Joey Sunga commented, "We were tight in the first set, but then we pulled through and got into the match."Joey Sunga worked the baseline efficiently while Bill Burger was powerful at the net.
On the Singles court, Hakan Uluturk had a 3 set full-action bout. This court had back and forth baseline action where both players were bringing it to try to score for their teams. Hakan Uluturk said, "I did not wake up in the first set; It took me a while to wake up. I should have started more focused and that's why I lost the first set 0-6. In the 3rd set when it was 3-3, I played too nonchalantly. I don't say this often, but it's a match I should have won. I don't deserve the beers I'm going to have tonight."
Another Singles court was engaged by Ashish Patel who was making his much anticipated debut for the Frosty Hollow Freeze. He did not disappoint and won his court in a 2 set stretch. When talking to the media, Ashish Patel stated, "Very uneventful match. I was happy to pull out a win, but I hate Har-Tru courts. It was hard to get into a rhythm."
As always, the Frosty Hollow Freeze crowd helped cheer the Frosty Hollow Freeze to another road victory!
After the match, many of the players and their wives/girlfriends met up at Ken's house for a delightful celebration where there was plenty of food and drinks for everyone. It was a gorgeous night for a party at the Patterson's. The fun and laughter continued long into the night. The night ended with fireworks while sipping beverages of your choosing.
It was a fun night and now it's back to the business part of things as the team continues their road swing as they head to Mill Creek!
