Penn State @ Frosty Hollow Freeze

Friday Night!  At the home of the Frosty Hollow Freeze!  Biggest crowd of season on hand!  A playoff atmosphere!  A Freeze White Out!  A Division Rivalry Bout!  Penn State came into Freeze territory wanting revenge.  The Freeze needed to shake things up with their lineup due to injuries.

With some altercations before game time, the lineups were delayed.  Once the lineups were submitted, the home and away crowd lit up.  Your home town Frosty Hollow Freeze Lineup is set:  For Singles1; Carlos Araujo!  For Singles2; Dmitry Belov!  For Doubles1; Bob Hawley and Zach McGowan!  For Doubles2; Ashish Patel and Eric Ulzinow!  For Doubles3; Ian Blackman and Lance Shaffer!

The Penn State crowd was in full swing with chanting from pretty much when the game balls were handed out.  However, the Freeze crowd did their part also.  The Freeze had their White Out on this night where players and fans were uniformed in white.  With playoff implications on the slate for this game the intensity was ramped up to a full charge.  Everything from players vs. player’s confrontations, fans vs. fans clashes, players vs. fans conflicts, and players out on the courts giving it their all, this game was one fun one to be involved in!

The night ended with the players drenched from the hard work put in.  Penn State took retribution and stunned the Freeze by a score of 18-4.  The only points for the Freeze on the night came from Patel and Ulzinow who banged in 4 on the board.  Both these teams are not fond of each other.  The only way for these two teams to go head to head again this year would be if both teams make the playoffs with one being a wild card.  That would be fun!  Oh, that would be electrifying!

Also; The Carlos Araujo aired on ESPN 8 (el Ocho) on Wednesday night:

Hello again aficionados of the Freeze, this is Carlos reporting on the match played against Penn State from Abington, reporting from ESPN 8 (el Ocho).

In the seventh match of the season, the rematch with team “Sandusky” was on. Last time we played the “Shower Boys”, the Freeze “touched” them for a victory in their home court. The Freeze was ready to pump Penn State again for another loss, with the goal of sending Penn State home crying before taking a shower, but it was not meant to be. This time the Nilly Willy Lions turned the tables on the Freeze and kicked our butts in our own home court.

Breaking news! Reliable sources have confirmed Penn State had a team shower as a motivational move before the match against the Freeze.

Much to the detriment of the crowd, The Freeze lost 4 out of the five matches in the contest. 1st Singles had Carlos (Super Ninja) Araujo making his team debut, but to no avail lost in two sets. The Ninja was not able to force his will on his opponent, perhaps distracted by all the screaming in the court next to him.

Which takes me to 1st doubles match. The winning duo of Grandfather and Son, also had their winning streak snapped by Penn State. Mainly because one of the Nilly Willy Lions, kept screaming “come on” after every point. The word on the street is that this player uses this phrases as a motivational tool to pump himself up during a match, initial picking up such phrase during shower time at Penn State.

2nd Singles was played by Dmitry (The Terminator) Belov. The Terminator was terminated in two sets. The word on the street is that Team Captain Nadine (Super Mom) Shaffer forget to plug in the Terminator for a full charge the night before.

3rd Doubles was Ian (Yellow M&M) and Lance (Baby Lobster) Shaffer. Team Chocolate Lobster also lost in two tough sets. The team was also hampered by Ian playing with an injury. Mr. M&M had a bad wheel, but showed a great (Milk Chocolate) heart and played well. Way to go Ian and Lance.

There were several distractions during all the matches, as Mr. Come On from Penn State keep running his mouth. Finally, Number One Heather “Spicey” had enough and told this particular player to shut the F…. up.

The bright spot of the day was Team Charmin. For those who may not make the connection, watch TV. They are adorable in their commercial, but not in the court. The smash brothers were at full force and won quickly. Great effort.

In all a disappointing night for the Freeze, but we didn’t have time to cry over spilled shower water, since the next day the Team plays the NERCrophilliacs from the Northeast. Good luck team.

Team motto remains the same, “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these Freezers from the swift beating of our opponents"

Until next time, set bat channel, same bat time. Carlos signing off.
