Frosty Hollow Freeze @ BCRC Slammers:

The Frosty Hollow Freeze continued their road swing as they trekked to Bucks County Racquet Club to take on the BCRC Slammers on the gray Har-Tru outdoor courts.  With a light drizzle during pre-game, the players had their team meeting indoors while eating peanut butter crackers.  The Freeze then walked out from indoor and headed outdoors to the game courts in their dark blues.  The home crowd jeered as they sipped on their beverages while sitting under umbrellas from the slight mist.  The pre-game music had the players getting mentally prepared and the excitement was building for the action between two top notch foes.

The lineups were written at the picnic tables!  Your Singles positions for this game; Ian Blackman and Bob Hawley.  Your Doubles positions for this game; Dmitry Belov and Bill Burger, Ashish Patel and Eric Ulzinow, and Lance Shaffer and Mark Shaffer.  The game was ready.

With the weather being tricky, some fans headed inside so the crowd was dim.  The Freeze crowd was into it and so were some of the Slammers crowd.  Although, most of the Slammer crowd was Deer, they certainly made their presence.  Tennis balls that were smacked with smashing overhead winners flew over the fences and left the deer galloping around to get out of the way.

The Freeze went off on the Singles courts with Blackman scoring 5 points and Hawley scoring 4 points.  However, the Freeze didn’t have the same success on the Doubles courts.  The BCRC Slammers took all the Doubles courts and a big home crowd cheer was in store for the Slammers.  The Freeze were frozen by a score of 13-9 and the Freeze winning streak was snapped.  The bucks were hungry.

The Freeze now must head back to the practice courts and gear up big time for their next game.  Every point earned is pivotal for the Freeze until seasons end for a chance to play in the USTA playoffs.

Hello again aficionados of the Freeze, this is Carlos reporting on the match played against the BCRC Slammers. Reporting from ESPN 8 (el Ocho).

Four score and seven years ago, I had a dream or a nightmare. In the fourth match of the season, the Freeze was frozen by their adversaries. In my vision, the Freeze began their domination of their opponents again. To start, 1st singles, Ian (M&M with peanuts) Blackman, continued his dominant streak by ground stroking his opponent to death, winning in two sets handily and this time with plenty of gas in  the tank (meaning his car) left right away, confident that the team will follow his lead. 2nd singles belonged to Bob (Eminem) Hawley. Doing his best Gangstah impersonation, played with a hoodie and busted a cap into his rival taking the match, right after the match he took a Nyquil and went home.

This is where my rosy vision of another Freeze victory turned dark and sour. Number One fan Heather “Spicer” began to look worried or weary as the doubles matches began to unravel in front of her eyes. Nadine (Supermom) Shaffer however, kept her composure, still confident of a Freeze victory.

In the doubles matches, 1st doubles, Bill (not ready for Prime Time) Burger and Dmitry (the terminator of Bill Burger is he doesn’t play next time) Belov had another tough match in their hands, losing in two tough sets. Dmitry (The terminator) Belov summarized the match in an effective but poignant sentence “Dmitry good, Bill bad” or in plain English the team had a bad burger.

In the 2nd doubles match, Team Jellystone Park, Ashish (BooBoo Bear) Patel and Eric (Yogi Bear) Ulzinow, almost smashed their win to a victory. Looking good in the third set, The Smash Brothers began to lose focus, probably because Park Ranger Smith was ready to take them back to Jellystone Park. Not even the incentive of another picnic basket from the team captain could stop the bleeding, and the Smash brothers were slammed.

Finally, 3rd doubles match, the Grinding Lobsters looked terrific in the opening set. Team captain Nadine (Super Mom) Shaffer, breathing a sigh of relief as the first set ended, thinking the Freeze will have a victory at the end of the day. However, in the second set and third set, Team Lobster (their grinding ways gone) lost their rhythm and was victimized by their opponents.

According to sources that wish to remain anonymous, Nadine “Super Mom” Shaffer truly tried to manage the team to victory, using all her motivational tactics, being nice at first but then cracking the whip to right the ship. There are reports that at one point during the match, she ordered Number One fan Heather to bring a large boiling pot of water and placed it facing Team Lobster court. Of course, during the press conference after the match, all of these allegations were denied.  However, there seems to be a video, with “Super Mom” Shaffer placing a large pot in the trunk of their car. More to follow.

Although not a great day for the Freeze, it is early in the season and there is no need to panic. There are rumours, however that the team captain may bring her secret weapon to one of the upcoming matches of the Freeze. The leaks coming are confirming that Carlos “Super Ninja” Araujo may play soon, more to follow.

Team motto still the same, “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these Freezers from the swift beating of our opponents"

Until next time, I pity the fool who decides to take on Freeze (except for the BCRC Slammers). Carlos signing off.
