Game Recap:
BCRC Pirates at Frosty Hollow Freeze (May 9th)
The Frosty Hollow Freeze welcomed the BCRC Pirates today and it was a dandy. The home crowd was loud and helped lead the Frosty Hollow Freeze to an entertaining 5-0 victory. The match was intense with back and forth action. The Frosty Hollow Freeze are now 3-0 this season. Ahoy matey!
The Frosty Hollow Freeze put out a lineup that gave them another home win this season. The Singles Positions were filled by Ian Blackman and Mike Bell. The Doubles Positions were filled by Dave Kniaz and Ken Patterson, Lance Shaffer and Mark Shaffer, and Bill Burger and John Sisti.
The Frosty Hollow Freeze got off to a quick start right off the bat when one of the BCRC Pirates Doubles pairs didn't get to the match, maybe because they left their phone off the "hook."
Ian Blackman took over on his court. Ian said, "I sucked and maybe when I play good, I'll have a good quote but today, I sucked."
Mike Bell walked onto the court with a mission and succeeded. When asked by the media how the match went he stated "good."
The Doubles matches were long and fun to watch. Dave Kniaz and Ken Patterson won their court after a long 3 set high-paced bout. Dave Kniaz said, "Those drop shots were killing us. It was a good battle." On another note, Ken Patterson became a new grandfather to a healthy baby boy at 8:02 a.m and a possible future football or tennis star in the making. When the match was done, Ken wittily stated, "I played like a grandfather." A congratulations to the Patterson family.
Another court win came from Lance Shaffer and Mark Shaffer. It was another long 3 set match but Lance Shaffer and Mark Shaffer, nicknamed the "The Grinders", grinded out a victory. Lance Shaffer stated, "We came out slow in the first set but then got back to our game. The home crowd was awesome all match."
The Frosty Hollow Freeze aim for another victory next week as they welcome Penn State at 11:00 a.m!
