Game Recap:

Penn State Abington at Frosty Hollow Freeze (May 16th)

The Frosty Hollow Freeze welcomed Penn State Abington today and it was an exciting one to be at.  It was nice and warm and a perfect day for tennis.  This was an instant classic with both teams giving it their all.  The away and home crowd made this match that much more fun to watch.  At the end of the game one team had to be the victor and that was the Frosty Hollow Freeze.  The Frosty Hollow Freeze won a nail biter with a score of 3-2.  The Frosty Hollow Freeze are now 4-0 this season.

The Frosty Hollow Freeze put out a lineup that gave them another home win this season.  The Singles Positions were filled by Ian Blackman and Hakan Uluturk.  The Doubles Positions were filled by Bob Hawley and Ken Patterson, Mike Bell and Mark Patton, and Bill Burger and Joey Sunga.

The Frosty Hollow Freeze jumped out to a lead right off the bat and then the match went the distance between two heavy hitting teams where no one wanted to throw in the towel.  The Frosty Hollow Freeze conquered the lion today.

Hakan Uluturk had a good match on his court and both players were bringing passion on every point. Hakan wore his opponent through his shoes.  Hakan Uluturk said, "Good match.  It was a lot of fun.  It highlighted things I need to work on."

Ian Blackman had a long 3 set bout on his court with his opponent.  Both players were exhausted by the end of the match.  Ian Blackman was like a boxer that didn't hear the bell.  He faltered in the second set and seemed on the ropes.  In the 3rd set he gave everything he had and delivered one of the most exciting Singles matches of the season.  He labored under the hot sun until he succeeded for his team delivering the knockout blow with one sweeping forehand.  Ian Blackman later commented, "Don't ever take 10 Advil before a game without eating."

Bob Hawley and Ken Patterson had a high paced match on their court.  Bob Hawley felt bloated from all the water he drank and stated, "Too much water and maybe I should have warmed up.  I'm not as good as my mind thinks I am." He then stated, "You can't win them all.  There has to be a winner and a loser." Ken Patterson said, "Youth was served."

With the match tied up at 2, it all came down to Mike Bell and Mark Patton's court.  With the fans and players from both teams watching, the pressure was big time.  The match was intense with powerful action in front of the net.  It was a hot day and both teams were trying to get the points over quickly.  After the first 2 sets on this court, we were all tied up and it came down to an entertaining winner-take-all 3rd set.  At this moment, both crowds were oohing and ahhing after each swing and cheering after each point.  Mike Bell and Mark Patton prevailed and helped give the Frosty Hollow Freeze the win.  Mike Bell stated, "My feet hurt!"  Mark Patton then said, "Mike’s feet hurt?  My entire body hurts!"  A few big smashes helped the team win.

A big crowd on hand helped cheer the Frosty Hollow Freeze to victory.

The Frosty Hollow Freeze now go on a 4-week road swing which begins against BCRC!
