The 2021 Frosty Hollow Freeze added new players to the team in Free Agency in the offseason. The Freeze didn’t have much winter practice together. However, the Freeze did certainly get off to a hot start and continued it throughout the season.
In 2019, The Freeze won their Division and made the playoffs.
The 2020 season did not take place.
So, in 2021, they were the defending division champs. All the teams in the Division were going to give the Freeze their best effort each game. The Freeze knew they had to be at their very best each game to stay on top. It was simple to say that the Freeze reached a point where they were playing pretty well but the team aspect wasn’t necessary there. Another team in the Division verbally went after their team during the week before the game. With words being said, the Freeze had an opportunity to stick up for themselves on the playing courts.
The tennis story was unfolding as follows…………….
With two weeks to go in the season, the Freeze would have a Home and Home with their foes. The Freeze needed to win one out of the two games to win the Division and make playoffs.
The Freeze didn’t win the first game and it was said that they were intimidated playing on the road.
It all came to the season finale, which the Freeze hosted. A win and in scenario. However, the Freeze buckled and were knocked out of first place in front on their home crowd.
Once the season standings were put together, the Freeze were eligible to play in the “Wild Card Play In Game”.
The Freeze were starring at a chance for redemption with another win and in matchup to stamp their ticket to the playoffs!
They would meet the team Naylors Run from Sharon Hill Pennsylvania in the Wild Card Game.
The game consisted of 5 courts which were all worth 1 point each.
The Freeze were defeated by a score of 4-1 with Anish Mhatre being the only player to score a point.
With all of that said, the 2021 Freeze journey was finished. The road to Arizona was finished.
The Freeze faltered. They controlled their own destiny in three straight games but were unable to come together as a unit to come out with a victory.
The fans, media, people around the team, commented on the season and gave their opinions on the Freeze. A lack of team togetherness seemed to play an important factor on the Freeze not making the playoffs. This could be partly not practicing enough together and not acting like a team on and off the court as they did in seasons before.
Any time you are unable to make it to the playoffs you are forced to take the offseason to try and fix things to be a top team next season.
It is being talked about that the team is wanting to get that team togetherness back to where it needs to be like the other teams who made the playoffs. Another pivotal thing is practicing together as a team on a weekly basis to work on strategy and team bonding. The Freeze offseason is now and we’ll see how they are going to try and improve for next year.
There isn’t a single person on this team that is content with how this season played out.
The questions are:
What is the Freeze’s next move to improve?
What are the Freeze offseason practices going to be like?
How do the Freeze get back to the team that has the leagues best team unity?
It was a fun ride but they have to turn it around and get back to being the top dogs!
Here is a brief look at a few photos of the final few games of the 2021 Freeze season.
