BCRC Slammers Vs. Frosty Hollow Freeze:

Excitement!  The game was scheduled to be played at the Frosty Hollow Freeze hard courts but the Slammers didn’t want go onto the courts.  The game was picked up and moved to Mill Creek Tennis Club to be played on soft courts and the Slammers were happy about the switch.  Oh, what a storm to start the game!

The Freeze team had a team meeting at the Frosty Hollow Freeze hard courts and then traveled over to Mill Creek Tennis Club to lace up for the intense action in a big game with playoff implications.  Everything from the starting lineups, the demands of the playing courts, to the arguments before and during the game, made this affair a must be at!  You could tell these two foes did not like each other from anything.  To make things better, the game came down to the wire and the final shot on a Singles court to secure the outcome.  The intensity was ramped up!

You could almost see the animosity from the displeasure between the two teams while the lineups were being announced.  With this game set at a neutral site, the Freeze didn’t quite have the home crowd advantage but did indeed provide the fuel for the players.  Singles1 player; Ian Blackman!  Singles2 player; Lance Shaffer!  Doubles1 pair; Bob Hawley and Zach McGowan!  Doubles2 pair; Dmitry Belov and Ashish Patel!  Doubles3 pair; Seramil Acierto and Mark Shaffer!

Lance Shaffer couldn’t get things going on the Singles court and the action was at a lull unless you were a Slammer fan or you liked watching Lance dive for a ball and not be able to get to it on the Har-Tru.  Seramil Acierto and Mark Shaffer paired together for the first time worked together nicely.  Acierto was making his 2017 Frosty Hollow Freeze debut.  His last entered game was back in 2014.  The Freeze were in talks with Acierto’s agent during the week and he was signed on the Friday before the game.  Acierto who is a great team player fit the bill of the kind of players the Freeze want to have on their team.

On a Doubles court, Dmitry Belov and Ashish Patel had a physical match on their court.  Belov was struck in the berries and from there it seemed the Slammers became engaged.  With a score of 11-0 in the Slammers favor, the Freeze mounted a comeback with the Freeze players and crowd involved with every point.  Hawley and McGowan owned stock and took 6 points with good serves and net play.  They controlled their opponents and the Slammers did not want any part of the BCRC media after that match.

With the score set at 11-6, the Freeze needed Blackman to show up big on his court.  Blackman came through with 5 points and a big cheer went through the crowd.  It’s a tie!  11-11. Although a tie is not usually that interesting, the Freeze take those 11 points with pleasure. A good comeback to tie and the Freeze are holding barely in first place.

The games coming up are pivotal!  Every set, every point, and every swing, is going to make a difference for the Freeze’s playoffs desire.  This team has a big opportunity to make a big splash with 4 games to go in the regular season.  These games should have a playoff vibe and atmosphere to it.  June 9th and June 10th are both filled with Freeze tennis excitement.  Game times are posted on the Home Page. It's a rivalry weekend and should be a hot ticket. The Freeze want their fans to come out loud for these games.  Cheer on the Freeze!  Wear the dark blues!  Go FREEZE GO!

Also; The Carlos Araujo Show, aired on ESPN 8 (el Ocho) on Wednesday night:

Hello again aficionados of the Freeze, this is Carlos reporting on the match played against The Slammers from BCRC, reporting from ESPN 8 (el Ocho).

In the sixth match of the season, the rematch with the Slammers was on. The Slammers were in true rematch mode also, acting like whinny little bitches so much that the POTUS tweeted “So that is what I look like every day #POTUS”. The Freeze short on players, had to scramble to field a team for the rematch. However, our fearless leader, Super Mom Shaffer rose to the task and had Number One Fan Heather “Spicer” manning the phones and texting her little fingers until they bled. At the end, Seramil Acierto (Philippino Lobster) Acierto came through to fill in the void.

Also, due to the weather and the whining, The Freeze played at Mill Creek at the request of the whinny little bitches.

Using all my sources and leakers, like my boy Julian Assange, I was able to get a recap of the match on hand.

Breaking news! According to undisclosed sources, Team Captain Nadine Shaffer almost had Andre Agassi as a substitute, however, taking the kids to soccer practice got in the way of “Old Boldly” playing for the Freeze, good try Super Mom.

To start, 1st singles, Ian (Yellow M&M) Blackman, returned to his winning ways. It took three sets, but Ian came up big (and round) in the third set. Way to go Ian.

2nd singles was played by Lance (Baby Lobster) Shaffer. Doing his best impersonation of an Ice Capades skater, Lance gave it a good try, but came up short.

Breaking news! Sources are reporting that the 70’s called and asked Ian for their outfit back.

In doubles, 1st doubles, Bob (The Mummy) Hawley and Zach (stop calling me the kid) McGowan won again in an eventful match. Team before and after had to deal with choice of outfit from Bob more than the other team.

Breaking news! According to all sources, Bob Hawley wore pants due to the fact that he forgot to shave his legs. When asked about the bandages underneath his pants, Bob replied he was a stunt double for an undisclosed movie that is about to be released.

In the 2nd doubles match, Team Snuggles also had a substitute. Ashish (Snuggles #1) Patel and Dmitry (The Russian Bear) Belov, paired for the first time. Team captain Nadine (Super Mom) Shaffer continued her strategic moves by pairing what seems on paper a furry team. Team Snuggles played well but lost in three sets.

Breaking news! According to all sources, Dmitry had a few choice words for their opponents in Russian. Translation to follow!!!

In the 3rd doubles match, Super Mom Shaffer, using her keen tennis intellect, paired Mark (Papa Lobster) Shaffer with Seramil (Philippino Lobster) Acierto. However, the strategy did not work and the new and improved Team Lobster lost in two sets.

Breaking news! The Slammers may be suing Freeze Team captain Super Mom, for irreparable damages to their sneakers due to playing conditions at Mill Creek. Super Mom replied by saying if the Slammers wanted some cheese to go along with their whine.

In all, the Freeze tied the match and remains in first place. Great effort from all the guys, playing with heart and the expectation of Ian bringing Prime Rib to the team first BBQ next week.

Breaking News!!!  According to all sources, Carlos (Super Ninja) Araujo will make his first appearance for the Freeze.  It will the first time in the history of journalism that a reporter will interview himself after his match. More to follow!!!

Team motto remains the same, “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these Freezers from the swift beating of our opponents"

Until next time, set bat channel, same bat time. Carlos signing off.
